DIY Pony Poptarts

Hey guys!

Today I thought I would teach you all how to make these adorable horse treats shaped like pop tarts! Now these do have some sugar in them, so limit your pony to a few a week 🙂

Ingredients for base:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup oats
  • 1/4 shredded carrot
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • water

Steps:

  1. preheat oven to 325* F
  2. combine all ingredients until dough forms
  3. add water if needed
  4. roll dough on floured surface with rolling pin until 1/6in thick
  5. cut into rectangles of desired size
  6. use fork to make indents around edge of rectangle
  7. place on greased cookie sheet
  8. bake in oven for 14 minutes
  9. let cool for 5 minutes before removing from pan

Ingredients for frosting:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • sprinkles (optional)
  • food dye (optional)
  • other candy decorations

Steps:

  1. mix powdered sugar and water
  2. add more water or powdered sugar until desired thickness is achieved (the thicker the better)
  3. add food dye if desired
  4. place frosting in piping back
  5. frost pop tarts
  6. sprinkle pop tarts if desired
  7. let sit for 45min-1hour or place in freezer to allow frosting to harden
